Margaret's practice centers upon the private, creative and client-centered resolution of family matters primarily through mediation, negotiation, collaborative law and other settlement techniques, but with the recognition that litigation and trial are sometimes necessary to resolve family disputes. Margaret represents clients with substantial net worth, complex martial estates, businesses, professional practices, trust interests and diverse real estate holdings. She handles a variety of disputes relating to parenting rights, property valuation and division, support, divorce, modification and many other matters. Margaret is also experienced in the preparation of prenuptial agreements.

Representative Work

 Margaret is an experienced litigator, but also a strong advocate of alternate dispute resolution, especially in family cases. Through mediation, negotiation, coaching and collaborative law, Margaret empowers her clients to control the outcome of their cases, preserve relationships and conserve resources, all of which are important considerations. Margaret was an early Collaborative Law practitioner in New Hampshire. She enjoys helping clients achieve a private, efficient, dignified resolution to their personal matters. She is a founding member of two local collaborative law professional organizations and an involved member of the State organization. In the litigation context, Margaret is recognized as a NITA Advocate' She frequently represents clients in litigated cases, including appellate litigation. She has handled reported and unreported cases at the New Hampshire Supreme Court, including Blanchflower and Blanchflower, 150 N.H' 226 (2003), as well as State of New Hampshire v. Taylor, 904 A.2d 619 (2006).

Involvement

From 2004 to 2012, Margaret was an elected leader of the New Hampshire Bar Association's Family Law Section. She was also a founding member and chair of two collaborative practice groups and is a former member of the NH Bar Association’s Committee on Cooperation with the Courts and the Family Division’s Rules and Policy Groups. More recently, Margaret was appointed to the New Hampshire Supreme Court's Professional Conduct Committee and the Committee on Cooperation with the Courts. In those contexts, she collaborates with members of the judiciary and other practitioners to rules, policies of the courts and professional conduct/ethical matters. In her leadership role with the Family Law Section and as a founder and chair of collaborative law practice groups, Margaret managed groups and provided programs' services and information to numerous New Hampshire family law attorneys. Margaret is an active proponent of collaborative law and mediation in the divorce context'

Margaret has participated in fundraising and other activities for numerous charitable organizations. She is also very active participant in the Bar Association's pro bono program, which provides legal services to impoverished New Hampshire residents.
