Kyle is an experienced litigator and trial attorney who joined Pearson, Butler & Carson’s Family Law Department at the beginning of 2017, the firm having had its eye on Kyle for some time.  Kyle’s academic and professional credentials and experience are exceptional, and perhaps unique, among Utah family law attorneys under 40.

After graduating from the University of Utah in 2006 with a degree in Speech Communication & Argumentation, during which he enjoyed a nationally-recognized collegiate debate career, Kyle enrolled in and excelled at Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, ultimately graduating in 2009.

He began practicing that same year in Dallas, Texas, accepting a job offer with one of the nation’s premier litigation firms upon graduation, and ultimately going on to build a resume that is arguably second-to-none among young family law practitioners in Utah.  Born and raised in Utah, Kyle ultimately returned to his home state in 2013 when he was one of two candidates selected annually to serve as a judicial law clerk to Associate Chief Justice Thomas R. Lee of the Utah Supreme Court, a highly-coveted and competitive appointment working directly with Justice Lee—arguably the Court’s most respected and prolific jurist of the modern era—on the Court’s decisions and opinions.

In his young career, Kyle has worked for some of the top law firms in Texas, Utah, nationally, and worldwide.  He has represented hedge funds, international corporations, small and large businesses, and individuals in litigation worth up to hundreds of millions of dollars. Ultimately, however, Kyle chose to return to the reason he went to law school in the first place--representing real people with real problems in one of the most important and difficult times in their lives, and bringing his knowledge and abilities to bear on their behalf.  He considers it one of the best decisions of his life, and quickly found that the skills he honed as a business litigator can provide an extraordinary advantage to his clients.

Finally, and most importantly, Kyle is a husband to a wonderful woman and a father to two rambunctious boys with a third on the way. He is an avid outdoorsman and conservationist, and is immensely proud to have been named one of Utah’s “Top 10 Family Law Attorneys Under 40” by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys.  Kyle believes that family law clients deserve a better class of lawyer. And he is determined to give it to them.
